D.Arch, LEED AP BD+C, WELL AP

Hi! I'm an architectural designer and researcher who designs studies that translate environmental psychology into actionable design insights, applying virtual reality and biological factors, physiological sensing, and NLP analytics to advance health-promoting, evidence-based architecture. At ZGF Architects, I collaborate across data strategy and healthcare, higher education design teams on post-occupancy evaluation, healthcare tool development, and behavioral science applications, communicating findings through peer-reviewed publications and firmwide platforms.

My research agenda centers on one question: how do sensations (visual, smell, touch) of the built environment alter and influence human perception and behavior? I design and conduct studies using both quantitative and qualitative methods, from double-blind VR experiments and physiological measurement to large-scale surveys and NLP-driven data analysis, then translate findings into actionable design guidelines and research resources for design teams. This work directly supports carbon-neutral, health-informed architectural strategies.

Hands-on project experience across healthcare, higher education, and cultural facilities gives me an intimate understanding of how design decisions play out in real construction, and why research-driven insights matter most when they meet the practical constraints of schedules, budgets, and coordination.

All academic projects are grounded in oikos, the idea that architecture should foster a reciprocal relationship between inhabitants, community, and their ecological context. I believe that through design, coordination, and planning, we can achieve a harmonious coexistence between people and nature.

About

About

I bridge research methodology and architectural practice to translate evidence into design excellence. With a Doctor of Architecture from UH Mānoa and a dual Master's from Tongji University, I bring expertise in quantitative and qualitative data analysis, IRB-compliant study design, and academic and industry writing. At ZGF Architects, beyond daily project design and documentation, I also collaborate across research and design teams, developing research collateral, conducting post-occupancy evaluations, participating in healthcare research and tool development, and communicating findings through peer-reviewed publications and firmwide platforms. I am passionate about fostering collaboration and cultivating partnerships that advance evidence-informed design.
